Profile
Martin Philips is an international trade specialist with almost 20 years of experience in policy and driving economic growth. He has done so by working across a range of public bodies in facilitating areas of international trade, trade compliance procedures and regulations and business and trade facilitation through execution and oversight of government programmes.
As Director of International Trade, Mr Philips’ focus is on helping businesses realise their international cross — border and regional export ambitions. The Trade Unit’s Strategy concentrates on increasing the overall volume of exports by coordinating and executing activities related to international trade and the negotiation of trade agreements.
Mr. Philips oversees several areas focused on these goals including informing export strategy, guiding prospecting services, assistance with sourcing and profiling commercial cross-border opportunities for businesses across multiple sectors. He ensures that the provision of specialist advisory services in the areas of regulation, Border Trade ensures that trade between both economies works as seamlessly as possible for businesses.
Mr. Philips has a Master’s of Science in International Trade Policy at UWI, Cave Hill, with thesis “Climate Change & Food Security in the Caribbean – A Jamaican Case Study”.
