Canadian medical cannabis and cannabidiol (CBD) company, Tree of Knowledge International (TOKI) is expected to be listed on the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) in short order.
Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries Minister, Hon. Audley Shaw informed that the “trailblazing” company is now in its final stages of cross-listing from the Canadian Stock Exchange to the JSE, which was labelled the world’s best-performing stock market.
“This is exciting. It opens up a world of opportunities for the Jamaican Diaspora to now invest in our health and wellness in Jamaica. Tree of Knowledge has already entered into several partnerships with local companies, who will benefit from this cross-listing,” he said.
“This is significant because it now opens up another stream of opportunities for the JSE to again be the best-performing stock exchange in the world in 2020,” Mr. Shaw added.
The Minister was speaking at the 15th Regional Investments and Capital Markets conference, hosted by the JSE at The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston on January 22.
TOKI has three primary business segments. They include multidisciplinary specialty pain clinics with a focus on the treatment of chronic pain, including controlled applications of medical cannabis in Canada, development of formulated products for therapeutic purposes and natural health product alternatives at its manufacturing facilities and the distribution and sale of hemp-based CBD products.
Meanwhile, Mr. Shaw noted that through many strategies and initiatives, “many other companies around the world can now come to Jamaica and cross-list on our Exchange”.
In 2015, the JSE was ranked the number one performing stock exchange by Bloomberg and in 2018 was declared the world’s best-performing according to the same source.
