ISO Quality Systems Division

The ISO Quality Systems Division (ISO QSD) is one of several divisions within the Ministry of Industry, Investment & Commerce (MIIC), tasked with enhancing service excellence in both public and private sectors by implementing and monitoring the ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) Standard. This initiative aims to improve the ease of doing business and position Jamaica as a more attractive investment destination.​

Objectives of the ISO Quality Systems Division:

  • Develop and Implement QMS: Establish and oversee the ISO 9001 QMS within MIIC, its agencies, and other public sector entities to ensure consistent quality in service delivery.​
  • Enhance Service Delivery: Improve the management and execution of key business services, programs, projects, and administrative functions to achieve organizational goals and excellent service delivery.​
  • Coordinate ISO Standards: Facilitate the adoption and implementation of relevant ISO Standards across Ministries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs), and medium-sized private entities.​

Functions of the ISO Quality Systems Division:

  • Advocacy: Encourage MDAs and medium-sized private entities to adopt and implement the ISO 9001 QMS.​rada.gov.jm
  • Certification Support: Guide organizations through the necessary steps to achieve ISO 9001 QMS Certification and provide ongoing technical support to maintain their certification status.​

  • ISO 9001 Implementation Project Management: Assist organizations in managing projects aimed at implementing the ISO 9001 standard.​
  • Internal Audits: Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 requirements and identify areas for improvement.​
  • Staff Training: Provide training programs to equip staff with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective QMS implementation and maintenance.
  • General Technical Guidance: Offer expert advice on various aspects of quality management and ISO 9001 standard implementation.​
